In My Memories, Old

Anders Kvistr It truly is what bridges the gap between two magical worlds created by Dis Pater, especially the closing song of the album. Let it sink in into your soul. Favorite track: Don't Be So Brave.

Stephen How did this slick, dreamy darkwave come from the same mind that also produced Midnight Odyssey? I am not sure, but I am not going to jinx it because I want more of both.

Raymond André III Gorgeous, anthemic, dark cinematic progressions. Windswept wastelands await the fall of Icarus to a chorus of Exterminating Angels.

In particular, ‘In My Memories, Old’ is a stunningly beautiful octave-driven track that is destined for great things, and truly the highlight of the album. The guitar arranging, in particular, is hypnotic and compelling. The lyrics evoke the limitless abyss between each of our isolated souls, making contact and redemption always out of reach. Regret and triumph. Favorite track: In My Memories, Old.

My tears are frozen There are none left to cry My eyes are hiding In shards of ice My heart is frozen It shall be loved no more And in coldness I will Wither and Die
2.
In the calling of an old name Invoke the flames of a sun Whose fires burn a deathly shade But remains seen by none Fiery talons, Burning embers of hate Tear the fabric of a wretched soul away Bearing naked, the inner spirit untamed The walls of comfort, the solid grounds give way Though the flames tell of memories Stories made, forever told In my memories, so very faint They feel helpless and old Fiery talons, Burning embers of hate Tear the fabric of a wretched soul away Bearing naked, the inner spirit untamed The walls of comfort, the solid grounds give way But through the ebb and flow Of eternity your words haunt me “In the vast realm between you and me Through time you hear me cry” But through the ebb and flow Of eternity your words haunt me “In the vast realm between you and me The flames, they don’t comfort me They lie, when the words you speak Incomplete…” The truths are hard to know Still I need to bring your flames to me “In my memories, old, The fires burn so bright They don’t grow cold” The truths are hard to know Still I need to bring your flames to me In my memories, old, The fires burn so bright, they grow It powers over me and consumes All that’s left of me and you.

Blowing a last kiss to my home, my world I have everything to fear and lose Knowing that there’s not much for me to gain Taking the first step in blindness alone I don’t need these thoughts today I will make this voice obey I know everything will crumble I know now I cannot stay Setting off onto an unknown road Will my footsteps ever be traced again Will I walk into a darkened dead end Stranded and forever lost to all them. I don’t need these thoughts today I will make this voice obey I know everything will crumble I know now I cannot stray
4.
Candles burning in the hall They cannot guide my eyes at all For every breath, I feel the noose .. The night is coming far too soon Sudden movement on the walls The shadows dancing where I fall And the flames, have burnt away But the shadows are here to stay If I could turn the page And float away I could make it through the night To see another day If I should turn around What would I see I am not quite the man I thought I’d be Shadows standing strong and tall I have no will to stand at all They hover over menacing Grim and speechless, chastening And I feel, the chains of time Quickly tightened, as they bind I am destined here to stay But the shadows fly away
5.
Hiding on the floor, in the corner Hands on face I have heard you from outside I am here will you look me in the eye Don’t be so brave You let it hurt so much I feel your pain You won’t complain Don’t be so brave You want it gone so bad I want to stay Lying in your bed in darkness hands in hair I can’t hear you from outside When I call your name, you stay in silence On the floor, but a shadow You stare so cold Your skin, so frail Your mind is elsewhere Hiding on the floor, in the corner, alone I am here, you are not You are elsewhere

about

Before ‘Looking for Semblance’, Death Comes Crawling was a different entity. Being much more goth rock/post punk sounding, these songs have been lying dormant for 4-5 years. Despite being a bit rough-around-the-edges, I have decided to release them as a 5 track EP called ‘In My Memories, Old’. This release bridges a gap between Midnight Odyssey and Death Comes Crawling, like a window into the past. This isn’t the direction that the project is heading, but I still consider these songs as the birthplace for Death Comes Crawling.
